Had I not known it earlier, now it was for sure – I had landed smack in paradise! I was picked up from the school late afternoon, and Mr. Chee and Mr. Wong served fresh coconut juice on the picnic table overlooking the lake – coconuts fresh from the fridge mind you and the coconuts opened right there! It was absolutely heavenly! Refreshing and cold, the setting sun casting a warm glow on the plantation and the lake – the company delightful! Afterwards I had about 1 ½ hour until dinner time, so I took a very needed shower and rested a bit, before walking the short distance down to dinner accompanied by the very kind guardsman, who also made sure I found my lodging later that evening.
Again Mr. Chee had outdone himself in the kitchen and a feast was on the table outside on the porch complete with a nice, cold glass of white wine! My first since I had left John and Marianne in KL!! Angels were singing – and we had a great evening, the food was fantastic the wine delicious, and the company delightful – one of the other assistant managers stopped by with freshly cooked corn on the cob to add to the already lavish spread – indeed an evening I will always treasure! Whenever I see a coconut I will always remember this magic evening at the Melangking Plantation with Mr. Chee and Mr. Wong!
