Going to Tomanggong

After a brief meeting at Torben's house Faizal and I headed down the road towards the plantation at Tomanggong - about 3 hours drive, mainly on dirt roads and quite a stretch through the Tabin Wildlife Sanctuary, so there should be good possibilities of spotting wildlife – if really lucky even wild elephants. Unfortunately we had no such luck, we "just" saw a few monkeys and a couple of big lizards on the road and the occasional bird flying off - no elephants. However, it was fascinating driving for hours into the plantation, and going through the many security checks along the way. Meeting some of the big trucks loaded with palm oil fruits roaring down the dusty roads were sometimes a bit too exciting!
