Test Painting on 50% Cotton Watercolor Paper Part 2

I just received this little sample of a new type of watercolor paper with my SAA Newsletter from England.

So, here is the demo of painting the teasels on this 50% cotton watercolor paper called Flamboyant. It's manufactured in France, and I am not sure it is available here in the States yet.

Watch my video to find out how I liked this watercolor paper!

Test Painting on Cellulose Watercolor Paper Part 1

I have been going through some of all my art materials in my studio, and found this watercolor block I bought in Copenhagen several years ago, and decided to give it a try! Normally I am not a fan of cheap  cellulose watercolor paper, but I found that with the right mindset, it can actually be quite fun to paint on this type of watercolor paper, as long as you don't expect it to react like 100% cotton watercolor paper!

I combined it with pen & ink, using a Micron permanent ink pen, and a Gold Posca pen for a little final detailing. Try it out yourself!

Using a limited palette is often a good idea, especially if you are a beginner - that way you avoid getting mud!

You can use any colors that speaks to you, and create your own design to paint a colorful painting of rosebuds!
